Prom 2021 Expectations

Prom 2021 will be held May 15, 2021.  As you know, most of this year’s activities have been impacted by COVID and prom is no exception. Please review the following guidelines regarding prom activities. We are required to follow the school guidance from MDE and the MN Department of Health for all school sponsored activities, so there will be a few changes from previous years. Prom and Post Prom will be a lot of fun, but we need to adhere to the guidelines so that our students stay safe and healthy.

Health Screening expectations: If you are in close contact quarantine, you are not able to attend AHS Prom.  If you are experiencing any symptoms that are consistent with COVID or any other potentially infectious illness, we ask that you do not attend prom.  You will be sent a health screening survey the day of the event.  The expectation is that you answer the survey truthfully and note that if you are experiencing symptoms, you will be asked not to attend prom. 
Current AHS Students Only: In order to follow the COVID guidelines and be able to contact trace, prom is open to current AHS students only this year. Grand March can be attended by juniors and seniors, Post Prom is for seniors only.

Grand March Signup: The signup link for Grand March will open on Wednesday, 4/28 at noon. You will be able to sign up for the time slot of your choice (3:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00). At the time of signup, you will need to provide your name, student ID number, as well as the individuals you plan to attend with. * We are required to identify pods of attendees that include no more than 6 people total.* Your signup information will be verified through central enrollment. Spectators will be able to watch during your designated time slot; more information is coming soon.

Post Prom Tickets: Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, 4/28 at noon. Tickets can be purchased for in the Cashier’s Office during regular school hours. Tickets are pre-sale only; there will be no tickets sold at the door.  Cost per ticket is $5.00. 

Post Prom Ticket Sales and Grand March Signup: Sales/signup will end at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 10th. There are a limited number of spaces in each time slot, so please sign up as soon as you know which time you and your friends prefer.

Parking: When you arrive for Grand March, students should park in the west teachers’ parking lot and check in outside Door #5 (nurse’s office) with their school ID. 

Current School ID Needed: in order to attend Grand March or Post Prom, you will need your current year’s school issued ID. If you do not have one, please stop by the office between now and the week of prom to get one. Please do not wait until the last minute to do this. The school issued ID is the only form of identification that can be used for prom events.

Masks: You will need to wear a mask throughout Grand March and Post Prom. 

Groups of 6: We are required to identify student groups of 6 (pods) that will primarily stay together during prom events. Please think about this so that you can list those 6 individuals on your sign-up.

Post Prom: Post Prom is for seniors only and will be held at the Wescott Complex. You will need your school issued ID and your numbered ticket for entry. Please park and check in at the west gate (water tower side). Tickets are not transferrable and will not be sold at the door. There will be several food trucks and plenty of food! We’ll also have an outdoor movie! Post prom dress is casual, bring a blanket for the movie and get ready for a great time! Post Prom is from 8:45 – 11:30, the movie will start promptly at 9:00. Be sure to bring your school ID.
Dance: There will not be a dance this year because of the social distancing and COVID guidelines.
